Terms & Conditions
By booking on any of our courses the purchaser (‘you’) agree to abide by the terms and conditions of the Cookery Studio (‘we’).
All dishes listed in the class description are a guide only to the course content. We reserve the right to make amendments to the cookery courses’ content and recipes without notice.
Unless informed on the course details, courses include a mixture of ‘hands on’ cooking either individually, in pairs or small groups - depending on the nature of the dishes - with chef demonstrations and discussion.
What’s included: ingredients, utensils, knives, equipment and aprons are provided for all courses. Meals when offered are included in the course cost – please see appropriate course details for further information.
Skill levels: we rely on students being able to self- assess their own skill level and are happy to assist with this but cannot be held liable if you book a course much higher or lower than your actual skill level. Please call us on 01227 730528 if you are in doubt.
Application requirements: you must be 17 years or over to attend any class unaccompnied by an adult. Children aged 10 to 16 are welcome to attend and participate in any of our classes at the full cost of a place, but they MUST be accompanied by one paying adult.
Health and Safety
All participants should wear shoes with flat, non-slip soles and covered toes, preferably leather. We recommend wearing sensible clothing (i.e. not your best outfit) – we are not liable to any damage that occurs to clothing. Long hair must be tied back in the kitchen. All course participants will receive a health and safety briefing before commencing the course.
Special dietary requirements
We are able to tailor our course content for some special dietary requirements (but not all). However, we will be happy to discuss course content beforehand to allow you to make your own alternative eating arrangements if necessary. There will be no reduction in fee in this instance. It is your responsibility to inform us at the time of booking, of any allergies, disabilities, diabetes, pregnancy, epilepsy, learning difficulties etc.
All payments should be made in full at the time of booking. We do not take provisional bookings and cannot confirm your place on a course until we receive full payment. All confirmation of course purchases are sent by email. We use a secure online Payment system. We will not pass on any of your contact details. Should you not wish to book by internet, please call or contact us on 01227 730528.
1. Gift Vouchers are valid for 10 months from the date of purchase unless stated otherwise.
2. Gift Vouchers can be transferred. They can be used by someone other than the person who was the original recipient by advising the Cookery Studio of any named changes.
3. To book a course using a Gift Voucher, you are required to contact the Cookery School. After making a booking using a Gift Voucher, the actual voucher must be returned to The Cookery School within four days of making the booking. If it not returned within that time, the booking will be cancelled.
4. Once issued, Gift Vouchers are your responsibility. They do not have a cash value. We regret that we cannot redeem lost Gift Vouchers.
All courses are non-refundable.
In booking a one-day, two-day or four-day course at The Cookery Studio, you are booking for one individual course at the time and date specified and, once booked, you are not able to change the date and time of this course unless we receive 21 days’ notice prior to the date of your course. There are no exceptions to this.
An administration fee of £20 per person will be charged to exchange all course bookings, which must be taken within 12 months of the original booking.
If you find you are unable to attend a course, you are welcome to send someone in your place, even at very short notice. However, you must notify us in advance if you wish to do this.
In the unlikely event of cancellation of a course by the Cookery Studio, we undertake to offer a suitable transfer to an alternative date or course within a reasonable period of time [or a full refund].
Most courses will require a minimum attendance of 4 persons to run a course.
The Cookery Studio will not accept responsibility for the loss of or damage to any personal possessions that you bring with you.
We are not to be held liable for any third party costs, such as travel bookings or accommodation, etcetera.
Note – you are advised to take out insurance for loss of fees through cancellation, illness or personal accident.
We accept Mastercard/Visa Credit Cards and Switch/Solo/Maestro Cards.
