We aim to show how you can love good food, optimise your nutritional intake and eliminate the confusing messages associated with dieting. The principles shared on this day course offers a sound approach to eating and living well to maximise your health and optimise your energy. In learning to cook healthily you can develop a lifestyle with flexibility which can be adapted to suit most daily routines. You will spend a day in the kitchen, use basic cookery skills and gain sound nutritional knowledge which will enable you to cook delectable, wholesome meals for your family, friends and most importantly yourself.

Our 'Learn to Cook Healthily' programme seeks to choose natural foods, to include a balance of protein, carbohydrate and fat at every meal, whilst minimizing the use of processed foods. There will be tips and ideas for creating a selection of snacks which will balance your GI levels throughout the day and opportunities to discuss your nutritional queries; we hope to inspire you into a healthier way of cooking and eating...

From a sample menu you will:

  • Learn how to transform your favourite dishes into healthier options without compromising on flavour

  • Use a selection of seasonal vegetables, pulses and herbs to create healthy snacks, starters or salads such as black bean soup with a zingy salsa - quite definitely one of the best dishes to come out of Mexico...

  • Create a salad of mixed grains, herbs and flavoured dressings and see just how varied and flavoursome these can be!   

  • Cook main dishes such as Fish 'en papillote' with Gremolata, Sea Bass with a Chemoulah sauce, or Chicken Roulade with a red pepper and walnut sauce for a satisfying and nutritious main course

  • Discover how pastries and other everyday dishes can be adapted to become a healthier option...

We invite you to join us at 9.30am for coffee when you will meet other class members and your chef. We will talk you through the class menu and how the day will run before you move through to our purpose designed kitchen, surrounded by the beautiful Oast gardens. With small classes of around 8 people, the step-by-step tuition is fun and easy to follow as you are supported by the Cookery Studio team. At the end of cooking you will be able to dine and enjoy the dishes you have prepared. You will receive a recipe booklet to take away with you. Please note that the dishes listed may vary due to the availability of fresh produce as a result of seasonal changes.
